Profitable or Acceptable: What will you choose?

Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Solus Christus, Soli Deo Gloria.

By Scipture Alone, By Faith Alone, By Grace Alone, By Christ Alone, Glory to God Alone
Life as I know it is made up of decisions. As a baby I had to decide whether I was going to be patient or cry to get my bottle of milk. As a 8 year old I had to decide whether I was going to come downstairs for breakfast or knowingly ignore my mom’s call in order to milk every second of that brand new episode of power rangers until she comes up and drags me to the kitchen table. As a 15 year old I had to decide if was going to study or talk on aim (which is still a problem today). As a college student I have to decide whether I want to go to class or not. Unfortunately I would often choose the latter. I must say I often conduct my decision making whether small or big in accordance to my personal desires. I often choose what I perceive as profitable for my life, which might at most just be seen as “acceptable” by the man upstairs.

As Scripture is “breathed out of God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness”(2 Tim 3:16), I will attempt to teach myself just as Paul proposed a thought in Romans 2:21 and questioned, “you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself?…”

I ponder at 1 Corinthians 10:23.

“Everything is permissible”—but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible”—but not everything is constructive. Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.

What exactly is beneficial?
