Belief vs. Faith

October 28, 2008 · 1 Comment

Now concerning food offered to idols: we know that “all of us possess knowledge.” This “knowledge” puffs up,but love builds up.  If anyone imagines that he knows something,he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, he is known by God.

1 Corinthians 8:1-3

Belief: an acceptance that a statement is true or that something exists

Faith: complete trust or confidence in someone or something

Apostle John likes to use the word belief/believe while Paul likes to use the word faith. But obviously both mean the same thing. Life committed to something or someone because you value that more than most things. In our case, that would be a life committed to Christ because he is worth every sacrifice and persecution we might face for His sake.
