I’m not sure that makes anything better for the discussion. Does B.B. point to scripture to support this distinction? I want to be sure I understand what is being said.

Definitely, if a man sins in the process of winning people to Christ, that person’s conscience and heart ultimately stands before God in judgment. However what I do know, is that despite man’s foolishness and propensity to sin, God’s sovereign plan to bring in his elect into salvation is always executed perfectly (Genesis 38 is a great example of this).

Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? (Romans 6:1b)

But I see your point. There’s only one “one way” and that’s through Jesus. many people add conditions that are not there.

I still need to listen to the audio but I agree that while we have certain liberties in Christ, we also need to love of brothers and sisters in Christ so that some may be saved (through God the Spirit)

haha. I think DA Carson really goes in depth in the sermon i linked above. When Paul says “that by all means I might win some” does it really mean all means? I guess if the end is a genuine salvation the means may be justified.

I think the point of 1 Corinthians 8 though, is that the Christian man would understand come to an understanding of freedom, but forgo those freedoms for the sake of the gospel being faithfully and accurately portrayed to nonbelievers.
